FUNDED ADHD COACHING
Access to Work ADHD Coaching
If you have ADHD and it’s affecting your ability to work effectively, there’s a UK government grant that could pay for the coaching support you need. Sadly, a significant number of people who are eligible for it have never heard of it.
Access to Work is one of the most valuable and least well-known forms of support available to neurodivergent people in employment. This article explains what it is, who qualifies, how to apply and how you can use it to work with an ADHD coach.
You don’t need an ADHD diagnosis to start receiving coaching.
WE WORK WITH ACCESS TO WORK CLIENTS
Use your Access to Work funding for ADHD Coaching
If you’ve been awarded an Access to Work grant, or are considering applying, you may be able to use that funding to work with an ADHD coach. Margaret Nicholls, founder of Flourish ADHD Coaching, is an approved Access to Work provider, and has over 400 hours’ experience working with clients who are funded through Access to Work.
ADHD SUPPORT PAID BY THE GOVERNMENT
What Is Access to Work?
Access to Work is a UK government grant scheme run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It provides practical and financial support to help people with disabilities or health conditions, including ADHD and autism, at work, whether they’re employed or self-employed.
Unlike a loan, Access to Work funding does not need to be repaid. It’s designed to remove the barriers that neurodivergent people face in the workplace, and ADHD coaching is one of the most commonly funded forms of support under the scheme.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR ACCESS TO WORK?
Who can apply?
You must be in paid work, or starting work within 12 weeks, and living in England, Scotland or Wales. You do not need a formal ADHD diagnosis to apply, though having one can strengthen your case.
There are no restrictions based on your earnings or the type of work you do. The scheme covers employees, self-employed people and company directors.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN AN ACCESS TO WORK GRANT?
What does Access to Work Fund?
For people with ADHD, Access to Work commonly funds:
- One-to-one ADHD coaching to improve focus, organisation, planning and emotional regulation at work
- Assistive technology such as task management apps or speech-to-text software
- Noise-cancelling headphones and other sensory equipment
- Workplace support workers
- ADHD coaching funded through Access to Work must be provided by a recognised coach or professional.
